LEKATCHKA AIRGUNNERS
Nokomis, Florida

AAFTA - SW Florida Grand Prix - 2026

I would like to thank everyone that came to support us for the 1st annual SW Florida Cabin Fever GP !  And I would like to thank all of our club members for jumping in and making this inaugural shoot a big success.  It was truly a team effort.

Day one of the shoot was the pistol match.  We had 12 shooters challenge themselves on our 10 lane, 40 shot course in the hunter pistol division.  Weather conditions at the time of the match were favorable for the early afternoon start.  Bright sunny skies, light winds with cooler than usual temps in the high 60’s.  At the completion of the match we had Neil George (first time pistol shooter) in first place with an impressive 37/40 using a borrowed gun!  Followed by Jerry McGee in second place with a 34/40 and a three way tie for third place with Ron Guiliano, Steve Hockenberry and Brian Wagner all shooting 32/40. After a shoot off on Sunday afternoon, Steve Hockenberry clinched the third place spot in the second round.  Congrats to all the winners!

We entered day two with a 1 hour delay due to much colder temps moving in overnight.  First day of the rifle match started with temps in the mid to high 40’s, with overcast conditions that looked like snow clouds.  It slowly got a bit warmer and the winds picked up late in the match making the course a bit more challenging.  36 shooters took place in the rifle portion of the GP.  22 Hunter PCP, 4 Open PCP, 5 WFTF PCP, 3 WFTF Springer and 2 Hunter Springer shooters.  We closed out day one rifle with temps in the high 50’s and the sun peeking out a bit to warm the course and give better lighting conditions. Troyer for day one rifle was a 32.19

Day three started on time with temps dropping overnight once again for a very unusual winter time in SW Florida. (I think the boys from Ohio forgot to close the door before they came down!) None the less we were all bundled up and prepared to do battle.  Final day of the rifle match saw less than favorable wind condition throughout the day.  Winds were blustery and swirling which made wind calls a bit more challenging.  All in all, the match went smooth and we all welcomed the sun when it came out from time to time.  In the end everyone enjoyed the challenging and technical 35.25 Troyer of day two rifle.

Congratulations to all the rifle class winners listed below.  We would again like to thank everyone for supporting Lekatchka Airgunners and we look forward too many more successful years of field target and supporting the AAFTA organization!
